About the role

We are seeking a hands-on Commercial Analyst to join our finance team. This is a critical role responsible for driving our budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes. You will work closely with key stakeholders across the business (including senior leadership). Your work will help translate strategic goals into financial outcomes and actionable insights, and equally you will provide analysis of our financial and sales data to provide insights on the business. You will own the monthly calculation and reporting of key commercial metrics including Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) and unit sales metrics. You will also support the broader business with a range of adhoc tasks and analysis.

This role does not have direct reports but requires a high level of ownership, accountability, and collaboration across the business. We are looking for someone who is has strong Excel and financial modelling skills, and will bring critical thinking and inquisitive thought about VALD's key financial metrics. You will thrive in this role if you are someone who strives to understand how senior leadership view and manage the business and can build models that reflect and support that vision.

What will you do?

  • Own the calculation, reporting and analysis of key commercial metrics including ARR and unit sales metrics.
  • Develop and maintain the annual budget model and rolling forecast model.
  • Lead the rolling forecast process.
  • Collaborate across internal functions to develop financial model inputs and assumptions while ensuring accuracy of inputs.
  • Translate complex financial and non-financial data into business insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Support finance and the broader business with adhoc reporting and analysis.

To qualify for the role, there are some basic minimum requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in investment banking, top tier accountancy or equivalent corporate roles, where you will have demonstrated experience in and understanding of financial modelling, FP&A or corporate finance.
  • Strong modelling skills with a demonstrated history of building/ developing models for commercial analytics and three-way financial reporting.
  • Expert attention to detail.
  • Adaptable to change and a proven track record of working in a fast-paced organisation.
  • Highly collaborative with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Comfortable operating in a multi-currency environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with financial systems (ideally NetSuite).
  • CA/CPA/ CFA qualifications (or studying towards) beneficial.
