About the VALD Product Team

The VALD Product team is charged with turning the ideas and feedback from our clients into reality. The team is split into two functions – Product Strategy and Engineering.

Our product team is passionate about client needs and understands how to translate those needs into features.

We have plenty of growing left to do. We are looking for a Technical Product Owner a background in software engineering to join our team. You’ll work with VALD's domain experts to articulate road-mapped items to the engineering team and other relevant stakeholders – such as our management, sales, marketing and client services teams.

What you will do

A key aspect of this role will be organisation and planning. You'll often be working with cross-functional teams with interdependencies, so being able to regularly review and prioritise your work, and ensuring your team has clear milestones will be critical to your success.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Lead delivery of technical projects and innovations relating to cloud infrastructure, security, data management, etc
  • Manage projects which may span across multiple development teams delivering high technical quality and reliability
  • Be hands-on and work closely with product and development teams
  • Define and deliver the vision and roadmap to stakeholders involved in the project
  • Engage with and seek end-user feedback on features to provide strategy in conjunction with other Product Strategy team members
  • Contribute to the quarterly roadmap plan for development delivery and the ongoing preparation for future roadmap iterations
  • Address impediments, drive decisions and prioritise a product feature backlog for maximum value
  • Provide backlog management, iteration planning and elaboration of user stories
  • Define acceptance criteria
  • Planning and execution of sprints
  • Deliver clear instructions to developers and ensure an adequate amount of prior prepared work to always be in the backlog.
  • Plan and conduct product feature testing and provide product signoff before release
  • Coordinate with the sales and marketing teams for the timely announcements of new features and releases

Is this you?

  • Experience as a Technical Product Owner/Manager, Technical Lead or Software Engineer
  • Experience in developing scalable solutions for the cloud (Microsoft Azure preferred) using CI/CD methodologies
  • Strong leadership skills with experience leading development teams
  • Ability to communicate technical problems/solutions to a non-technical audience
  • A high intellectual curiosity to understand products, how they work, and how they solve client problems
  • A broad understanding and practical experience of agile/scrum development approach to working.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Experience and interest in working in the technology industry
