About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to support the finance team with day-to-day accounting functions, monthly reporting, and compliance activities. This role is ideal for a candidate looking to grow their career in accounting and finance within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

What will you do?
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journals and reporting.
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with processing supplier invoices and preparing weekly payment reports for the accounts payable (AP) meeting.
- Assist in preparing finance and management reports.
- Fixed asset register maintenance and depreciation calculations.
- Inventory Management.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy across all accounts.
- Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, and other compliance requirements.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and other ad hoc reporting as requested by the finance team.
To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate:
- A proactive, “can-do” attitude with a willingness to learn and take ownership.
- Previous experience as an Assistant Accountant, Bookkeeper, Accounts Payable/Receivable Officer, or in a similar finance role.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems (experience with NetSuite or similar will be highly regarded).
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end accounting processes, including reconciliations, journals, and reporting.
- Experience working with multiple entities and multi-currency transactions.
- Familiarity with BAS, GST, PAYG and general compliance requirements.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
- Strong time management and organisational skills to manage competing priorities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Problem-solving mindset – able to investigate issues and implement practical solutions.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
