About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to support the finance team with day-to-day accounting functions, monthly reporting, and compliance activities. This role is ideal for a candidate looking to grow their career in accounting and finance within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

What will you do?

Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journals and reporting.
Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Assist with processing supplier invoices and preparing weekly payment reports for the accounts payable (AP) meeting. 
Assist in preparing finance and management reports.
Fixed asset register maintenance and depreciation calculations.
Inventory Management.
Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy across all accounts.
Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, and other compliance requirements.
Liaise with internal stakeholders.
Perform ad hoc analysis and other ad hoc reporting as requested by the finance team.

To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate:

A proactive, “can-do” attitude with a willingness to learn and take ownership. 
Previous experience as an Assistant Accountant, Bookkeeper, Accounts Payable/Receivable Officer, or in a similar finance role.
Proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems (experience with NetSuite or similar will be highly regarded).
Strong knowledge of end-to-end accounting processes, including reconciliations, journals, and reporting.
Experience working with multiple entities and multi-currency transactions.
Familiarity with BAS, GST, PAYG and general compliance requirements.
Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
Strong time management and organisational skills to manage competing priorities.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Problem-solving mindset – able to investigate issues and implement practical solutions.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
